Get Organized
It's time to get organized! Are you someone who cannot have anyone over because your house is completely disorganized? Are you looking at your desk right now? Is it full of papers and stuff that doesn't belong? Organization not only can make your work day more efficient, but it can also reduce your stress levels. You may not realize the amount of stress you are carrying around each day simply because you live in chaos. The secret is 15 minutes. Take 15 minutes a day, an hour, before you go to bed, or whenever you can to organize one area. Let's take your desk for example. The first thing you want to do is take everything off. (Unless it doesn't come off.) Wipe the area clean and then start going through your "stuff". You will need three piles: Trash, Give away, Move to another area Toss what can be tossed. (In the recycle bin of course.) This is usually the easiest to do. Be realistic. If you haven't touched it for at least several months, you aren't going to use it. Give away what can be used by others. Take it to a local Goodwill or have a garage sale if there is a ton of stuff. You can also sell it on Craig's list if it is valuable. Anything that is left needs to either be moved to another area in your home, or it needs to go back on your desk. If it needs to go back on your desk, make sure you have a place for everything and label it. Spend the last part of your work day (15 minutes) making sure you leave your desk clean and organized. If you have unfinished business, make a To Do List so you know exactly what to tackle for the next day.
